Productivity tip – Practise Gratitude

Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.

Eckhart Tolle

If you read a biography of any successful person, you will always notice that practising gratitude is quite high up their list. As Robin Sharma puts it, “Nothing fails like success.” It is important to keep your feet on the ground. While success will come, gratitude is what will make it stay with you and help your grow.

How is being grateful going to help you be more productive you ask. Although I am grateful for the food we eat and the roof over our head, thinking about what you are grateful more than the basic necessities will really help in the bringing in more positivity throughout your day, alleviate stress, and be quite eye opening. Here are some ways it will really help clear out your brain space for a nice productive day –

  1. Be grateful for the one person who – a. impacted your life positively, b. helped you out in a hard time, c. is trying their best with what they have.
  2. Be grateful for your current state – whatever you are, wherever you are, somebody would like to be there.
  3. Be grateful for the opportunities you get – Our ‘jobs’ could be anything, at the very least are providing us with a paycheck. Spend time finding what other opportunities it provides you with. You will soon realize your work is more than just a job.

Cultivating a gratitude habit is hard and takes constant time and effort. It will open up heaps of brain space previously occupied by negative energy and thoughts. Bring in the positivity by adding gratitude to your life.
